Angela Foot

Hi my name is Angela but everyone calls me Ange.  I have recently moved up here from the beautiful Palmerston North, to be closer to my family. So far I am loving it and enjoying Buttercups very much. I have a awesome 7 year old boy Alex and he is my world.

I am a qualified and fully registered ECE teacher with 8 years experience in early childhood settings. I have worked with ages 2 to 5 generally but have also done relieve work in baby departments in my early years. Being an educator is who I am and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I have a huge passion for this career and this shows in my practice as i am very enthusiastic and bubbly person. Also i am very reliable and a go to kinda person.

I feel I have strengths in art, Te reo Maori and leadership and weave this through my everyday practice as much as I can.  I feel having trusting and positive relationships with parents and whanau; as well as my colleagues are essential for children's learning and development. Without this a quality learning environment wouldn't exist.

Recently Buttercups has been learning all about the Reggio Emillia Philosophy to incorporate into our centre's culture. I have been really enjoying this and believe and value a lot of what this is all about. For example creating the environment to work as a 'third teacher', I feel this is very important as a inviting, calming and aesthetically pleasing environment encourages great participation, collaboration and positive learning outcomes for children. I also believe that a focus on the child's voice, working theories and ideas is a very valuable way to understand a child's way of thinking.  I look forward to learning more and more.
